Disinfection byproducts (DBP) are released when disinfectants like chlorine added to swimming pool and hot tub water react with sun-tan lotion, urine, sweat, or other substances. The potency of DBPs increase with pool/tub use frequency. This chemical reaction may even cause damage to the DNA.
