Having to study to become a doctor may require much of a person’s time and effort but the result would be truly rewarding. Thus, many have dreamt of becoming a doctor one day. However, “the once popular profession of medicine has lost its glitter.”

It is a choice made by the individual to work as a nurse even though he is a doctor in PH, and mainly due to a better compensation. But i have met many PH Doctors who work in Singapore and are not complaining. They accepted the offer although not so great and made their way up. I think it is more of a greed rather then passion for the doctors who have ventured into nursing. I cannot fault doctors who opt to work as nurses abroad because we are poorly compensated in our profession. These people have families to feed and they opted for reverse education to search for a more stable future. I think that what needs to be addressed here are two things: 1.) The doctors (us!) who do nothing about being poorly compensated. Admit it or not, we have let the previous governments treat us this way. I think what's really disheartening is when you live in a society that doesn't put value to service. I have a friend who is an ENT specialist. She practices in one of the private multi-specialty clinics in Manila. She had a pediatric patient who was accompanied by her mother. A lot of dentists are working as nurses too--and some are working as dental assistant in other countries. Whenever my parents tell me to go out of the country to find work, I tell them it's not that easy that's why many dentists end up working as dental assistants in America.
