In recent years, there have been significant changes in the role of pharmacists in healthcare. In order to maintain the integrity of the profession, pharmacists must be recognised as health care providers and for their medical knowledge, and less focused on product dispensing and supplying.

I think it is a common concern in Asian countries that pharmacists are underutilized. There is so much more we can do, starting with patient education, yet we aren't given the chance to put into action what we learned in school. What's worse is that, patients aren't very familiar with what we can do and how we can help. The public usually just sees pharmacists as the people who dispenses their drugs, worse, as cashiers in the drugstore. Hopefully, Asian countries can catch on some pr...

I would definitely agree that there are a lot more role that pharmacists can take on, like patient education with regards to their medications, chronic disease management, primary prevention, immunization and vaccination, and possibility of selective prescribing rights. In hospital settling, pharmacist do play an important role in checking the drug-drug interactions, especially with the latest or newest medications on the market.
