New study finds the optimal time for twin deliveries!

A news: For uncomplicated twin pregnancies, it has been proven that the optimal delivery time is 37 weeks of gestation. The main reason that has become optimal is the marked decrease of stillbirths and neonatal deaths. According to that study the fetuses who have two separate placentas can be delivered by 37 weeks and the fetuses who share the same placenta should be delivered by 36 weeks to minimize the risk of stillbirths and neonatal deaths. That study has shown up the risk in numbers. The risk of stillbirths at 37 weeks is balanced though the rate of stillbirths at 38 weeks is 8.8 deaths per 1000 births than at 37.

The timing of delivery for twin pregnancies is always very crucial because twin pregnancy delivery is very critical as compared to single gestational pregnancy. More than 50 % of twin pregnancies are susceptible to preterm birth complications, therefore scheduling of timing for such deliveries is very necessary.
