Persistent Headaches Should Not Be Ignored

 Headaches are usually treated with painkillers, even though there might be various reasons for their occurrence. A dull persistent pain can be caused by increased pressure in the head due to the existence of a brain tumour. The pain is slow and persistent and grows as the tumour gets bigger and pressure starts to build within the head. 

If a tumour is present, the headaches are likely to be more intense in the morning or at night due to an increase in pressure in the brain when you sleep. 

Countless cases of brain tumors have been diagnosed in very late stages because these headaches were not investigated seriously and passed unnoticed.

As everybody says, headache should not be ignored. However, it is fact that there are socio-cultural factors that affect the patient's decision to seek consultation. In the Philippines, a lot of patients will dismiss headaches as something benign. It's common to hear that, "That's just migraine, it will go away". Persistent headache should not be neglected. The location of the headache is also important.
