Many scientific breakthroughs and inventions happen in parallel or at similar times. But will the one who has the Eureka moment first or the one who publishes a reviewed paper first be remembered as the inventor?

I think that scientific recognition largely relies on politics since humans are political in nature. To add to the controversial discoveries mentioned in this article, the famous Monro-Kellie doctrine should be more appropriately termed Monro-Kellie-Burrows doctrine. Its very unfortunate that credit was not given to the English doctor (George Burrows), who thought of the inclusion of cerebrospinal fluid to the doctrine.
