In a new study, it was found that potato consumption does not have a direct correlation to cardiovascular disease, as some studies have previously indicated.

Seems like it is not YET associated with cardiovascular disease for now. I think potato has been getting bad reputation because of the cooking techniques used for it. It is either fried, loaded with cheese, or paired with red meat. French fries (large variety) has higher calorie content than the burger and contains more grams of fat.
