Type 2 diabetes mellitus is a very famous condition as it's prevalence has raised up very rapidly in the recent times. The main issue they meet is the insulin resistance of the liver cells and the periphery. A group of researchers have revealed that blocking or removing a protein which is secreted by the immune cells may improve the insulin resistance and glucose intolerance. This study was done by the researchers from the university of California using obese and diabetic mice. The protein is called as protein galectin 3. I think this will be a good achievement to regain the insulin sensitivity for those who are suffering from diabetes mellitus type 2.
