Drinks for diabetics.

Diabetes mellitus comes in two types; type 1 and 2. It comes with unpleasant and dangerous complications if left untreated leading high blood sugar levels. As the first step of the treatment of diabetes mellitus, what we usually practice is the dietary modification. Though most of the people are aware with the food types which are healthy and unhealthy for a diabetic person, most of the time they are not aware with the drinks to have or quit. The best drinks include water, flavoured water, herbal tea and milks. Moderate consumption of pure fruit juices and coffee or tea are allowed too. Soda, energy drinks or fruit cocktails are really unhealthy for diabetic or prediabetic people.

First of all I must thank you for all the valuable comments on this topic. As what you have said it is very true that selecting drinks for diabetic people or the people with impaired glucose tolerance is very difficult. As you said , some of the people might get bored on drinking water and what we can do is to advice them to drink some flavoured drinks which have a low level of sugars. Of course, water is the best option and everyone drinks it usually, but these patients too need to have choices regarding other drinks.
