Probiotics is defined as “live microorganisms which when administered in adequate amounts confer a health benefit on the host”. The therapeutic efficacy of probiotics has been studied extensively in the treatment of gastrointestinal microbial disorders, including diarrhoea. This article summarizes clinical papers on the topic of probiotics in the treatment of diarrhoea in children.
