Families with special needs children may have to take urgent time-off or unpaid leave at times to look after their children. This is especially so if they do not have a caretaker, and the amount of unpaid leave amounted is so great in value that hiring a part-time home caretaker would be better. Parents may need to provide at-home healthcare or bring them to the doctors for regular checkup, or even be present when they need to be urgently admitted to the hospital. This places a large burden on the sandwich populations of today, especially those who are financially strained.
