As known by all, cancers are triggered by genetic mutations. However, using this insight to devise treatments is hard. Some have looked at the issue in a different light. Andrea Califano of Columbia University realises that, regardless of the triggering mutation, the pattern of gene expression and associated protein activity for the same type of cancer is observed in patients. This article discusses about master regulator proteins (which controls the activities of numerous other proteins) and are mostly regulators of transcription.
