In line with the longstanding problem of codeine addiction in Singapore, the prescribed sentences for unlawful trade of codeine have been revised to impose higher fines – up to five times the previous limit.

Its good to read that the Health Sciences Authority are imposing harsher penalties for unlawful trade of codeine-based cough mixture. Opioid addiction is very problematic, and I agree that this problem needs to be addressed right away before the situation gets out of control. In our region, we do not have this problem because codeine is not available in the market.
