MOH: Three from Kelantan confirmed to have leptospirosis, likely aftermath of recent floods

The three patients who tested positive likely contracted the disease from Tanah Merah, said the Malaysian Health Ministry. Meanwhile, two students in Malacca are suspected to have contracted the H1N1 virus.

I hope that the Ministry of Health was already able to educate the affected people who believed that it was a "virus scare". These things can really happen, and with the publicity that Zika virus got last year, I am certain that even people in remote areas have heard of it somehow. With regards to Leptospirosis, I'm just wondering if it is standard practice in Malaysia to give prophylactic antibiotic for people who waded in flood waters. Maybe ...
