Smoking in restaurants and workplaces is now banned almost worldwide as secondhand smoke is considered very damaging. Yet almost a decade on, many of the improvements in public health that were expected following the ban have not materialised.

The issue at hand here is that the negatives effects of secondhand smoking has been erroneously reported due to observation bias. Observers were non-smokers who pushed for tobacco ban. My take on this is that society should continue smoking ban even if the harmful effects of secondhand smoking have not been established. Let us encourage smokers to stop the deadly habit. Moreover, let us give non-smokers their right of having fresh air to breathe as cigarette smoke is really unpleasant to the olf...
