Just to critique the association of tooth loss and onset of elderly in dementia, perhaps there might be another mechanism aside from inflammation. First of all there is an important structure in the brain called the blood-brain barrier which protects the central nervous system from being affected by inflammatory processes that occurs elsewhere.
