In the United States, there are two basic forms of malpractice insurance policies. There's the occurrence policy and the claims-made policy. Compared to a claims-made policy, occurrence policies covers the professional from  liability within the duration of the policy period even if claims are made after the duration of the insurance has  expired. Claims-made policies only protect the professional for legal claims within the policy period. What types on malpractice insurance are available in your region?
