The number of Overseas Filipino Workers being deployed is increasing every year. According to the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA), there were a total of 1,844,406 OFWs in 2015 – 1,437,875 land-based and 406,531 sea-based. In accordance to this, an average number of 29 Filipinos get diagnosed with the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) daily, according to the latest report released by the Department of Health (DOH). With this being said, I think that it is wise and advisable to take precautionary measures such as HIV screening, along with, conducting a thorough medical history and physical examination on OFW's who are bound to leave the country. For the MIMS Community, kindly share your thoughts regarding this matter.
