This topic brings me to re-emphasise the use of tumor markers, in this case, CEA (Carcinoembryonic antigen). Many health screeners include tumor markers in their packages, but these are mainly for surveillance and not for screening purposes. Elevated CEA could be seen in benign conditions like smoker, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, pancreatitis etc, and can cause unnecessary anxiety if the results were false positive; on the contrary it could also lead to false negative results, delaying...
