Carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) is a caused by compression of the median nerve between the 9 flexor tendons inside the carpal tunnel. There are numerous causes of CTS and can include vasculitis, rheumatoid arthritis, hypothyroidism, and pregnancy for which surgery does not have a role.
