Causes of sudden rise in blood pressureCreated by:
Most of the time, my patients asked me why all of a sudden their blood pressure increased in spite of the fact that for so long it has been controlled, due to regular intake of maintenance medications. Based on my experience and from the clinical histories that I extracted from my patients, the following are the most common causes: (1) too much intake of salty foods, (2) high intake of fatty foods, (3) extreme fatigue, (4) lack of sleep, and (5) emotional outburst. It could be one of those mentioned, or combinations thereof. I emphasized to my patients that although the right combination of their medicines has been determined, they still need to observe discipline in selecting their foods and pursuing healthy lifestyle.
