I think this new national dental clinic here (http://www.channelnewsasia.com/news/singapore/singapore-s-first-dental/2890124.html) for elderly and special needs patients is really good news. During the course of practice I met some really stressed out parents of special needs children (who are lovely), but definitely require more attention from their parents. Admittedly getting their hair cut, and teeth taken care of are a challenge. It was hard for me to examine their throat for a URTI, let alone things like dental extraction. It’s also great that there are facilities like special chairs for geriatric patients whose posture may be more kyphotic. I do wonder if there are areas for general anaesthesia for wisdom tooth extraction for the kids and so on.
