Is releasing Tamiflu a justified move to control flu outbreak?

Shared by:

The flu outbreak in Hong Kong this summer has so far caused more than 200 deaths. Professor Kwok-yung Yuen, Chair of Infectious Diseases at the University of Hong Kong (HKU)’s Department of Microbiology and Honorary Assistant Professor Dr David Christopher Lung came up with some recommendations in the Ming Pao’s column last Friday. One of the suggestions is to give out Tamiflu to elderly people as preventive measures, but this was later turned down by the Department of Health (DH) as not being a ‘justified’ move.
