Saving the heart: “Statins are effective”—supports Malaysian study

More evidence has surfaced for the positive impact of statins in a Malaysian study. Observing over nearly 49,000 patients in a ten-year period suggested that statins can rapidly reduce blood cholesterol levels. This in turn reduces risk of heart attack among local patients.

I do not see anything wrong with initially prescribing statins as long as the patient is aware that a low fat and low cholesterol diet is really necessary in order to achieve normal cholesterol levels.
