Digging deep: Is intentional non-adherence among patients a thing?

Non-adherence to medicines is a well-known, but poorly addressed issue. Instead of blaming patients for being forgetful, perhaps more attention should be paid to intentional non-adherence?

With the ageing population, I agree with Jemelyn Mae Sodusta that "The factors can be forgetfulness especially for elderly patients or intentionally dropped the thought of taking their medicines. This kind of behavior is very common to those patients who are hypertensive. Because almost all patients I handled, they intentionally stop taking their medicines because they thought that they are already fine."
